Yes, I know… the top bar is cutting off my head… Isn’t that just the way life goes sometimes?

this is the part that got cut off.

Welcome…

By strict definition a Curmudgeon is an ill-tempered person full of resentment and stubborn notions. However, that is not always the case.

There are some of us who are ill-tempered because we feel surrounded by people or situations that are utterly miserable for no other reason than the folks involved are so completely self-absorbed that no one else enters their thoughts.

Then there are others that are full of resentment because the reasons for all the misery eludes them and there never seems to be any resolution to the constant dilemma created by others or even themselves.

Then, there are those of us who are full of stubborn notions that there’s no earthly reason for all the misery and suffering around them.

What ever the reality one finds themselves in perhaps it is possible to find that the light at the end of the tunnel really isn’t a train.

Since there is no lack of human stupidity or the absurd things people will do to prove that they are able to make life harder than it has to be, this is the place I have chosen to add my 2.5 cents.

I started to notice my curmudgeon-ness in my mid to late 40’s; I’m 66 now. I finally came out of the closet at 60 – that would be the curmudgeon closet – and admitted to myself and the world that I am indeed a curmudgeon, however one with a soft and warm heart. I know… that sounds like a contradiction, but I assure you it is possible. In my universe people should conduct themselves with honor, integrity and compassion for others; I’m an idealist and I know this is not the way of things, thus my current state.

I don’t like to take long walks on the beach, however I do love to sit on them in the evening breeze with my wife and soul-mate of 36 years and just listen to the sound of the waves hitting the shore. I don’t get any joy from loud obnoxious children, or grown-ups for that matter, however I would die for anyone of my grand-children or four grown children.

I love the smell of puppy breath, getting my face washed by my two German Shepherds and one Boston Terrier, and rolling around in the grass with my dogs. Dogs are great people. Their lives and minds are uncluttered and uncomplicated. Dogs live to love and love to live. All they require to be happy is love, respect, a warm home and someone to share the joys of every-day life with. They don’t hold grudges nor harbor unforgiveness; they’re always happy to see you when you come home at the end of the day, and they’re quite ready and willing to lick the hurts of a bad day away for no other reason than to see you smile and speak their name. I don’t believe it’s an accident that dog spelled in reverse spells god!
